Dear OneLiver,

Have you ever heard of a TV show called Ru Paul Drag Race?

It is a show starring groups of Drag Queens competing to each other to become America’s next drag superstar. Drag Queens tend to be biological male performers who dress and perform in an exaggeratedly female persona.

As a drag queen they’re able to perform their act, show their skills and be their true self. And they also have to be fashionable, good at sewing, anyway, super talented i would say.

12 seasons down, Drag Race has not begun to slow in popularity. It now shows on VH1 and has gained millions of fans all over the world. (Our supporting crew Clara is one of the HUGE FAN of the show)

Drag is where glamour meets comedy. They have to serve both LOOK & be ENTERTAINING. Yet, unlike with other shows, in the world of drag, it truly comes in every size, shape, form and style. From large to small, from beautiful to individual. One aesthetic does not fit all on the RuPaul stage.

So why do I say you can learn a lot from this show?

The most common thing between you and the drag queens is that you are both PERFORMER. You can learn from them on how to diverse your look and be entertaining at the same time. Most importantly, they will inspire you on how to embrace who you are and be the one of a kind. I believe all of our performers are also unique and special. You do not need to compare yourself with other, just do your best show in every video call and polishing your profile, I believe you will find your target audiences who know how to appreciate you as YOU.

“If you don’t love yourself, how the hell you gonna love somebody else.” – Ru Paul

Amen!
